About Us
In the beginning there was Mexico...
At US Dog Coalition and Rescue, our journey began as tourists, exploring the breathtaking beauty of Copper Canyon, specifically Cascada de Cusarare. However, amidst the natural splendor, we couldn't ignore the heartbreaking reality - street dogs were everywhere. Puppies, old, and pregnant dogs struggling to survive without shelter and sustenance.
Moved by compassion, we started feeding these dogs, providing momentary relief, but knowing it was not enough. They would return to their harsh lives on the streets, vulnerable and hungry.
During one visit to Cascada de Cusarare, we encountered a little dog whose frail body was ravaged by mange and intestinal parasites. He sought nothing more than a moment of respite in the sun's warm embrace. Tourists passed him by, oblivious to his silent plea for help.
Regrettably, we were unable to rescue him. With no veterinarians around for hours, we had no choice but to leave him behind.
This encounter with that suffering puppy became the catalyst for the birth of our rescue mission. We solemnly vowed to help as many of these innocent souls as possible.
After diligently establishing our 501(c)(3) status and successfully transporting the first dogs from Mexico, we quickly realized that our mission needed a dual approach. Locally, we focused on rescuing dogs from overcrowded shelters and accepting owner surrenders, giving them a chance at a better life. Internationally, we collaborated with rescue partners, extending our support and bringing street dogs from Mexico to our sanctuary.
Today, this is where we stand - a dedicated team committed to making a difference in the lives of dogs in need. Join us on our mission to provide shelter, care, and love to those who have been forgotten and abandoned on the streets. Together, we can create a brighter future for these deserving animals.
